Kangaroo Foundation is a nonprofit organization created by a group of health professionals, with a mission to humanize the care of newborn infants, particularly those most vulnerable: Premature and low birth weight (LBW). We promote the use, development and dissemination of Kangaroo Mother Care (MMC), a methodology devised in Colombia in 1978 by the pediatrician (E. King ┼ 1992).

The MMC has emerged as the only tool available to improve the care of LBW children in the world. It is an evidence-based methodology, focused on the mother as the primary supplier of heat and stimulation (skin-to-skin: "KMC"), nutrition (based on breast milk) and monitoring and control strictly following the early exit of the hospital in a Kangaroo Mother Program Clinic (PMC).
