On 17 June, an unfortunate traffic accident on the road between Barranquilla and Cartagena, took the live of Dr. Carolina Sandoval, pediatrician of the Programa Madre Canguro Integral from the San Ignacio's Hospital in Bogota and member of the Kangaroo Foundation. In the same accident died her husband David Rodriguez and the couple's son, Samuel, of only 3 years.
Dr Nathalie Charpak Scientific Director of the Kangaroo Foundation received from the hands of Mr. Carlos Slim, the reward given by the Institute of Health Carlos Slim from Mexico, who credits the Foundation as an Institution of Excellence in 2012.
